TOEFL五回目感想&結果（9/19結果追記）

さすがに慣れてきました。前回スコアが2週間たっても出ない（9/12まで遅れるかもという連絡が来ました）ので、対目標でのイメージです。あと今月は二回IELTSを受けるので、次受けるとしたら10月半ばとかかと。

9/19追記）構成は結構違いましたが、総合的にはやっと満足行けるスコアが出ました。これでTOEFLは打ち止めにして、あとはIELTSでOxford/Cambridgeの最低限水準を超えるよう頑張ろうと思います。

四回目にもなるとだいぶ慣れてきた気がします。今回は途中で眠くなることなく、前回よりはできたような気がしております。ちょびっとですが。

Oxford MBA information session in Tokyo

Oxford MBA information session in Tokyoに参加して参りました。最後のTea Receptionまで参加してよかったです、参加前より志望度は上がりました。

Tomo Suzukiという日本人のProfessor of Accounting at Oxford Universityの方による、模擬レクチャー（Accounting; Should Japan adopt IFRS?）が、簡潔ながらも非常に面白い内容でした。

しかし、圧倒的多数がIFRS導入に賛成に手を上げていたのをみて、やはり近い領域で働いている人でないと内容に興味とか普段から持たないんだなと感じました。

閑話休題。

Oxford Said Business Schoolの印象としてはこれまでWeb等で集めていた情報よりも、よりpublic-mindないしmacroな視点、そしてWhat you really want to do you in your life?が強調されているようで、なんとなくですがMcKinsey&Companyや今の会社に近い雰囲気を感じました。

あとCambridgeとの違いはクラスサイズ、街の大きさ、等でカルチャー的なものは校風よりも個々人の違いが大きいとおっしゃっていたのも印象的でした。両方出してみて、両方受かったら最終的には人とのフィットを見て決めることになりそうです。是曰く、捕らぬ狸の皮算用。

残念なのは、ここでも1+1については詳しい説明はなく・・・やはり、とりあえずバックグラウンドからして入りやすそうなMBAで行ってみて、面白いテーマ・教授があったら延長というフレキシブルな計画が妥当な気がします。

IELTS目標設定（Overall/OA:7.5）

IELTSでOverall 7.5って、なんだかんだ日本人のトップ5%くらいなんですよね。片側5%なので、正規分布を仮定した時には偏差値70弱程度なので、まあいかんせん目指している大学がOxford、Cambridgeなので、それくらい頑張りましょう。

One-year MBA rankingってあるのかなと検索してみたところ、トップはKellogg School of Managementなんですね。正直、ヨーロッパしか検討していなかったので最近知りました（汗）。

TOEFL目標修正

iBTで110点を目指すのは変わりませんが、配分をより現実的な構成にしました。

Reading：　30点（複数回達成なので問題なし）
Listening：　29点（過去最高＋2）
Speaking：　23点（過去最高＋3）
Writing：　28点（過去最高＋1）

つまり、ListeningとSpeakingを徹底強化の必要アリです。さらに、WritingはEssay対策で最低限の勉強を続けます。8月、9月で追い込むどー。

TOEFL第三回目感想＆結果

Readingが簡単に感じたせいか、Listeningが集中できなかったのが残念無念でした。Speakingはもっと日々時間を使い準備ネタ帳考えておけば、Total110(Oxbridge's requirements)は何とかなりそうですが、リスクを鑑みてIELTS*も同時並行で受けてみようと思います。

ちょうど受験から一週間でスコア結果が帰ってきましたが、Speakingが結局のところ全く伸びていませんでした。。。無念。今月はIELTSと同時並行でもう勉強ですね、さすがに尻に火がついて来ましたよー(｀・ω・´)ｼｬｷｰﾝ

AGOS JAPAN主催のMBAフェア、現在の志望度

AGOS JAPAN主催のMBAフェアに行って参りましたが、お目当ての情報がなかったので30分で帰ってしまいました。回ったのは二校だけです。

（志望度が下がりつつある）LBSは8/11に説明会があるようなので細かい話はそちらでカバーしようとdone.もう一校回ったOxfordも、私が興味のある1+1に実際に参加された方はいなく、こちらも特に目新しい情報はなし。もう一校志望度が高いCambridgeはそもそもブースがない！（幸いなことに、会社の先輩にAlumniがいるので私は問題ないですが）

まあでも、Oxford MBA 1+1については、質問しようといろいろ事前にウェブサイトを見たおかげで、Computer Science（コンピューター科学）やEducation（教育学）、Environment（環境学）よりもSocial Science of the Internet（インターネットの社会学、主催はOxford Internet Institute; OII)かとほぼ決まりました。

個人的なテーマとして、このインターネット／テクノロジーの進化の果てに、人間とその生死・精神がどういう姿になっていくのか、を1年使って学び考えてきたいと思います。ついでにその中にビジネスチャンスがあればそれも狙いつつ。

INSEADの説明会 in Tokyoに行ってきましたが、余り惹かれませんでした。

理由1）　コンサルティング業界出身者が25%、卒業生は40%と偏っており、CareerのEdgeにならない

理由2）　人数が年間千人と結構マンモス、しかも結構若いので落ち着きがない印象

理由3）　Alumni discussionからすると、Contents valueというよりVacation value

応募しない可能性が今のところは高いです。
